How to choose the right replacement coil

Coils are device-specific, so the most important step is matching the exact tank or pod model you own. A coil built for one kit will not fit another, even from the same brand. Check the model name printed on your tank, pod or the side of your old coil, then pick the matching product below. Two numbers decide how it performs:

• Resistance (ohms) – lower resistance (below 1.0 ohm, or “sub-ohm”) runs at higher wattage, produces bigger clouds and warmer vapour, and pairs best with freebase e-liquid. Higher resistance (1.0 ohm and up) is cooler, uses less liquid and suits salt nic and mouth-to-lung vaping.
• Wattage range – most coils have a recommended range stamped on the side (for example 15-25W). Staying inside that range gives the best flavour and the longest coil life.

Mesh, standard and pod coils

Modern mesh coils use a single sheet of mesh instead of round wire, which heats more evenly for cleaner flavour and a slightly longer lifespan. Standard wrapped-wire coils are still common on older tanks and rebuildable setups. Replacement pods combine the coil and the e-liquid chamber in one piece: some have a built-in coil you replace as a unit, while others take a separate coil that drops into a refillable pod. How long do vape coils last?

A typical coil lasts about one to two weeks, but real lifespan depends on how much you vape, the wattage you run and the e-liquid you use. Dark, sweet and heavily flavoured juices leave residue that shortens coil life, while lighter blends and lower wattage stretch it out. The clearest sign it is time to change your coil is a burnt or muted taste, reduced vapour, or a gurgling sound.

How much do vape coils cost?

Prime your coils before the first puff

Always prime a new coil before use. Add a few drops of e-liquid directly onto the exposed cotton, reassemble, fill the tank or pod, then let it sit for five to ten minutes so the wick is fully saturated. Skipping this step is the most common cause of a burnt first hit and a coil that dies early.

How often should I replace my vape coil?

Change it when you taste a burnt or faded flavour, notice less vapour, or hear gurgling. For most vapers that is every one to two weeks, sooner with sweet or dark e-liquids.

What is the difference between mesh and standard coils?

Mesh coils heat a flat mesh strip evenly, giving cleaner flavour and often a slightly longer life. Standard coils use wrapped wire and are common on older tanks and rebuildables.

How do I know which coil fits my device?

Match the exact tank or pod model. Check the name printed on your device, pod or old coil, then choose the product with the same model name. Coils are not cross-compatible between kits.

What does priming a coil mean?

Priming means saturating the cotton wick with e-liquid before the first puff. Add a few drops onto the coil, fill up, and wait five to ten minutes so it does not fire dry and burn.

Are sub-ohm coils better than higher-resistance coils?
